City of San Fernando celebrates World Teachers' Day

THE City Government of San Fernando recently celebrated the World Teachers' Day at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center here.

Mayor Edwin Santiago congratulated the attendees including public teachers, district supervisors, and school heads in the city.

“Our teachers never stopped educating the youth to become “superheroes,” the city mayor said.

“While inside the classrooms, teachers mold the children to become good citizens of the country,” Santiago added.

“I really think high of you teachers because you are the ones who shape and prepare the children's personality to suit them in the 21st Century,” Santiago furthered.

The local chief executive said the celebration is one way of recognizing the effort and sacrifices of the teachers.

“Because of our teachers, we are able to think and understand things we know now. They are our second parents, so what we are enjoying in learning right now, is one of them behind it,” Santiago stated.

The 2018 Lakan at Mutya ning Fernandinong Talaturu, which is participated in by teachers from different districts, secondary and senior high schools, and private schools, also highlighted the event.

Jerome Rodriguez of Saint Nicolas College of Business and Technology emerged as winner among the other 18 male candidates during the pageant.

Other Lakan winners include Danny Manuel and Joshua Mari dela Cruz, who were awarded first and second-runners up, respectively.

Chantal Anne Tulabut of Malino Integrated School bested the other female candidates.
