RESPONSIBLE promotion of tourism spots should be considered by the youth, especially the bloggers and travel enthusiasts, a travel blogger urged.

“It does not mean na just because nakapag-post rin tayo ng photos sa mga FB accounts natin yun na ang end rin trip or journey. Dapat marunong rin tayong umintindi kung ano ang magiging consequence if ever pinost natin ang isang magandang lugar (It does not mean that just because we have already posted our photos on our FB accounts that is the end of our trip or journey. We should also learn to understand the consequences if ever we post photos of a beautiful place),” Apple Allison of Sole Searching Soul Philippines said on Thursday, October 4, 2018 during the Tourism and the Digital Transformation Conference at Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City.

Allison said that responsible travelling must be at the forefront of any traveler in his or her journey in promoting the beauty of the Philippines.

“That’s why I continue to conduct seminars and discussions too in order to help promote sustainable tourism,” Allison said.

Based from the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) data, among the main motivations of tourists and guests in travelling is the internet. Other reasons are recommendations by friends, relatives residing near the tourist destination, and curiosity.

The data also showed that 83.3 percent of Filipino travelers arrange their trips independently while 16.7 percent resort to package deals.

Records from DOT also show that foreign visitors grew by 11 percent in 2017 reaching 6.62 million tourist arrivals.
