DAVAO City’s top 8 drug personality was killed after he allegedly shot it out with the Sta. Ana Police operatives when they served him a search warrant at 3:50 a.m. on Friday, October 5.
The operatives led by Police Chief Inspector Michael Uyanguren implemented search warrant No. 1996 issued by Hon. Judge Emmanuel Carpio against Rusty Limalima Gomez, 40, male, of Purok 8, Brgy. Monteverde, Davao City.
The operating team went to Gomez’s residence to serve the search warrant but the suspect fired his gun to the police officers who evaded it.
The suspect shot the operatives again which led to a shootout between him and the police authorities.
Gomez was hit and was rushed immediately to Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) but was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
The operating team continued to search the place witnessed by a Department of Justice representative and Barangay Captain Robert Diaz of Barangay Tomas Monteverde where they recovered the suspect's black rectangular container containing five plastic sachets of suspected shabu and two pieces of rectangular plastic sachet of suspected shabu and one piece aluminum tooter, one piece improvised foil stripe and one piece improvised foil needle.
The investigator endorsed the crime scene to Regional Crime Laboratory Office (RCLO) 11.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives team led by PCI Silveron, who also conducted the investigation, recovered one.38 caliber revolver loaded with three live ammunition and one fired ammunition and one fired cartridge case of .9mm caliber pistol.
The confiscated drug items are under the custody of the police station which have an estimated weight of 3.093 grams with an estimated value of P15,000.
Meanwhile, Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 regional director, Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo C. Morales praised the team for the operation against a notorious drug suspect. He reiterated his call for drug personalities to stop their illegal activity and not to put up a fight against the authorities when caught or apprehended.
“It has always been our primordial duty to safeguard our lives and lives of the innocent civilians," he added.
