Pampanga LGUs cited for good governance

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Two cities and eight municipalities in Pampanga were recognized by the Department of Interior and Local Government Region III (DILG-3) for exercising good governance in their respective localities.

DILG-3 Director Julie Daquioag named the local governments of Mabalacat City and City of San Fernando as recipients of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award this year.

The local governments of Bacolor, Floridablanca, Lubao, Macabebe, Mexico, San Simon, Sta. Ana and Sto. Tomas are also recipients of the prestigious award.

The local governments passed the criteria set by the DILG in gauging their respective performances in various areas of governance via the development indicators.

These include Good Financial Housekeeping, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Environmental Management, and Peace and Order.

Aside from the recognition, the winning local governments will receive funds which will utilized on programs for economic growth.

The Performance Challenge Fund amounts to P3-million each for Mabalacat City and City of San Fernando and P2-million each for the eight towns.
