2 wanted murder suspects yield P260,000 'shabu' in raid

TWO persons, including a minor, who were allegedly wanted for murder in Cebu province, were arrested in a drug bust at Barangay 12 in Bacolod City Saturday, October 6.

Police identified one of the suspects as Joric Epogon, 21, while the name of his 16-year-old companion was withheld by the authorities, both are natives of Barangay San Jose in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

They yielded a total of P260,000 worth of illegal drugs

Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) conducted the operation against the two suspects past 1 a.m.

Epogon allegedly sold shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a police agent for P1,000. The minor also conspired with him in the transaction.

Police seized from Epogon five sachets of suspected shabu, two sling bags, back pack, two police uniforms, and a motorcycle while his minor-companion yielded three sachets of suspected shabu and the P1,000 marked money.

Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said both suspects sustained minor injuries after they tried to resist arrest from the police operatives.

A case for violation of Sections 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), 11 (illegal possession of dangerous drugs), and 26 (conspiracy) of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, usurpation of authority, and resisting arrest will be filed before the court against the two suspects, Gabana said in a press release.

Gabana said the two suspects are wanted for the crime of murder in Dumanjug, Cebu province, and also involved in an alleged robbery incident in a school at Moalboal, Cebu City.

With their apprehension, the two major crimes in Cebu are now considered solved, he added.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, acting BCPO director, commends the operating personnel for a job well done.

Ebreo continuously reminds all units to effectively exert all effort to fight the illegal drug trade in their respective areas. (GYM)
