Terra Dolce escapes My Spaghetti

TERRA Dolce-Tib's surprised My Spaghetti House from behind victory, 72-70 while GT Net remained unbeaten Foodman became its second victim, 76-69 in Class C action of the 10th TKP Memorial Basketball Cup at Nompac Gym.

My Spaghetti was ahead 70-65 after Fr. Clarence Canafe made a layup with a minute and a half left but Tib's finished them off with a 7-0 run as Alex Chua scored on a jumpshot, followed by Julius Teruel's reversed layup.

Tib's Roger Montalbo blocked the jumpshot of Richard Co and Angel Rodriguez hit one of two free throws for the final tally.

Co also had another chance with 2.4 seconds left but missed a corner jumper from 13 feet out that could have tied the game.

My Spaghetti House had a 40-34 lead at halftime as Ralph Richard Tan and Joshua Co had eight apiece, Fr. Canafe with six while Terra Dolce offense coming from Teruel with eight and Jason Ong seven.

RJ Iligan got off two treys while Teruel and Montalbo had five to give Terra Dolce the lead at 54-50.

Teruel scored a game high 17 points, backstopped by Ralph Ong, Angel Rodriguez, with 13 and eight, respectively while Roger Montalbo and Jason Ong with seven apiece.

Tan finished with 15, Richard Co added 14, Fr. Canafe and Manaloto with 10 each. Joshua Co with eight, Arvin Chua with seven.

GT Net-POs Digital bucked the absence of Charlton Ong who was ejected with the count tied at 38.

GT Net offset the height advantage of Foodman relying on their quickness and fastbreak attacks to take a 60-52 as Archie Co, Monroe Chua and Tim Garrucho delivered eight, six and five points respectively.

In the payoff quarter, GT Net still used the same game plan with Tubby Villanueva scoring 10 of the 15 for Pos Digital to keep Foodman at bay.

Johann Villanueva had six and Toffel Tan and Ton Ton Chua had three each for Foodman.

Villanueva paced POs Digital with 14, Archie Co added 10 Monroe Chua with nine, Garrucho with eight and Jan Jan Young with seven.

Foodman was led by Mic Mic Montemayor and Toffel Tan with 14 markers each, Ton Ton Johann Villanueva with 12 and Chua 11.
