MAYOR Evelio Leonardia lauded President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for visiting Bacolod as part of her "Cyber Corridor Tour."

Leonardia said Information and Communication Technology/Business Process Outsourcing (ICT/BPO) industry spurred Bacolod's economic development and fueled the employment rate to increase giving about 6,000 Negrense professionals, especially from Bacolod with decent and high-paying work.

"We're happy that the President's keenness and interest as well as her sincerity of the industry serve as our guiding light and inspiration. Madam President thank you for setting our directions and for including our city in your cyber corridor tour," said Leonardia.

He noted last year, when the city expected a slowdown of the ICT industry, but another giant company came to Bacolod.

"It's been an existing light for us here in the city" he said, stressing that information technology or the industry players in the city has stimulated the growth and development of Bacolod. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
