WITH the jackpot prize of the Ultra Lotto 6/58 hitting nearly P1 billion, it’s no surprise the lines to place bets are longer than usual.

Adi Claurito, 29, a lotto operator along Gorordo Ave., Cebu City, told SunStar Cebu that the long lines do not bother the bettors.

“More than 50 people would come here to the outlet for the whole day. Peak hours would be during evenings after their work,” she said.

Claurito said though that their sales were normal, as the price of lotto tickets has gone up to P24 from P20.

“Nimahal man,” she said.

The hike in the price of the tickets was implemented last month.

She opens the outlet from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Draws for the Ultra Lotto are every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

Melanie Encio, 24, a lotto operator inside a mall on Leon Kilat St., noticed longer lines after the jackpot hit P100 million.

“Around 70 people per day,” she said.

Plastered around their outlet are notices of the jackpot prize and advice to bettors: “To all our valued Lotto customers: You can buy your 6/58 Ultra Lotto tickets now to avoid long lines and being cut off by draw break.”

A commission of 7.5 percent of daily total sales plus 10 percent discount on tax goes to the lotto outlet agent.

Those interested to open up a lotto outlet must be a Filipino citizen and at least 21 years old. They will be required to submit ID pictures, a letter of intent, proof of income and proof of ownership or lease of outlet. They must also complete an online lottery application form which will require an attachment of a map of the location of the outlet and a photo of the building of the proposed outlet.

Once the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) approves an application, applicants will be required to submit more requirements and pay processing and installation fees.

Applicants must also submit clearances from the National Bureau of Investigation and the barangay and photos of the outlet.

Corporations must be registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission and must be 100-percent Filipino-owned. Applicants must submit bio-data of corporate officers and directors.

The PCSO Cebu Branch is located on Osmeña St., North Reclaimation Area, Cebu City. (JOB)
