Minor arrested for raping 28-year-old in Gusa

AUTHORITIES on Monday, October 8, arrested a 17-year-old boy who allegedly raped a 28-year-old woman at Philstate, Barangay Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City, over the weekend.

Chief Inspector Ericson Sabanal, Police Station 3 commander, said the suspect will likely face frustrated murder or frustrated homicide charges.

A rape complaint may also be filed once the results of the medical examination on the victim are released.

Sabanal said they would reveal the identity of the suspect after the case is filed in court.

Through a hot pursuit operation, operatives pounced on the suspect after the latter's companions tipped the police about incident.

"Gi-amin man pud sa suspek ang iyang gihimo (The suspect admitted the incident)," Sabanal said.

Sabanal said the victim was with a group when the suspect joined them in a drinking spree at Corrales Avenue, this city, last Friday. The suspect then brought the victim to the crime scene.

The following day, the victim, a resident of Patrick Cronin, Camaman-an, this city, was found lying on the ground unconscious, with no undergarment and with wounds on her mouth.

Members of the Oro Rescue Team rushed the victim to the hospital for medical treatment.

As of Monday evening, Sabanal said the victim remained unconscious at the hospital's intensive care unit while the suspect was detained at the police station's detention facility.
