Model OFW families in Bataan, Bulacan recognized

THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) named as Regional Model OFW Family of the Year Award (Mofya) winners families from Bataan and Bulacan.

Herenio Corpuz and family from Hermosa, Bataan placed first in the Land-Based Category while Captain Domingo Cruz and family from Plaridel, Bulacan topped the Sea-Based Category.

“Mofya is an annual event of Owwa recognizing the OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) and their families by showcasing their success stories to serve as inspiration to others, focusing on their nurtured and strong family ties, educational and professional success, social involvement, and proper management of businesses or investments acquired through overseas employment. It highlights their best practices in overcoming the different migration challenges,” Esperanza Cobarrubias, Owwa-Central Luzon officer-in-charge, said.

Winners were selected by a panel composed of Department of Labor and Employment Assistant Regional Director Geraldine Panlilio as chair, Cobarrubias as vice chair with Pampanga Archdiocesan Migrants Desk couple coordinator Pastor Ajos, Family Migrants Association of St. Scholastica’s Academy president Mylene Soberano and previous regional Mofya winners as members.

“Each family-nominee was interviewed by the panel about the wholesome family, success in children’s education, religious and civic involvement, and financial stability further discussing their experiences during their overseas work, how they overcome such difficulties and how they succeeded in life,” Cobarrubias added.

Other nominees who were interviewed by the panel were Amado Arroyo and family from Plaridel, Bulacan and Danilo Roque and family from Pilar, Bataan for Land-Based and 2nd Engr. Oscar Canonizado from San Narciso, Zambales and Capt. Alfredo Concepcion from Tarlac City for Sea-Based.

Winners will represent Central Luzon in the National MOFYA Awarding this December. (PIA-Central Luzon)
