GUAGUA, Pampanga Mayor Dante Torres will seek another term in 2019 as he is set to run under the Kapanalig at Kambilan ning Memalen Pampanga (Kambilan) unity ticket.
Kambilan is the provincial party under the chairmanship of Governor Lilia Pineda. Torres is also reported to have incumbent Vice Mayor Sajid Eusoof as running mate.
Torres said that he would like to continue his administrative and development programs for Guagua in the next term. The mayor said that he is now focusing on advancing his development programs for the town and also pushing forward with his social projects for the poor as well as his climate change mitigation efforts.
Torres called on both supporters and opponents in government to unite and work for the common good of the people adding that political mudslinging hinders the town’s development and progress. He also said that it is now time to bury the hatchet of political discord and work for the common good of the town.
The incumbent mayor added that his track record in his governance of the town would speak well of how he was able to institute reforms. Among these is the continuing modernization of Guagua’s system of administration, particularly in the area of revenue generation and judicious resource management.
The efforts have paid off as evidenced by the awards received last year by the town: the Seal of Good Housekeeping given to local government units by the Department of Interior and Local Government and the title “Second Most Competitive Municipality” from the National Competitive Council, which annually evaluates the performance of local government units in attracting capital and pursuing infrastructure programs.
Guagua’s government has also been recognized by the Department of Health for its aggressive health-oriented campaigns, distribution of free medicines to indigents, human vaccination and the eradication of rabies.
