THE judge handling the case of detained Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog and her brother Reynaldo Parojinog Jr. was shot dead on Monday afternoon, October 8, in Ozamiz City.

Northern Mindanao Police Regional Office spokesperson Superintendent Surki Sereñas said Judge Edmund Pintac of Ozamiz City Regional Trial Court Branch 15 was shot to death by still unidentified gunmen while he was driving home in Purok 2-B, Barangay Banadero, around 4:20 p.m.

Pintac was handling the charges against the Parojinogs in relation to illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms that stemmed from a raid conducted by the police in their residence in July 2017.

The raid resulted in the killing of the Parojinog’s patriarch, Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., his wife Susan and at least 10 other people.

The siblings were transferred and detained to the Philippine National Police custodial center in Camp Crame.

Citing that Nova Princess and his brother were both high-risk detainees, Pintac denied the sibling’s motion asking for the court to allow them to visit their parent’s wake for at least 48 hours.

Mayor Parojinog was earlier tagged as a drug lord by President Rodrigo Duterte. (SunStar Philippines)
