UIC, Barangay Colosas help drug reformists

UNIVERSITY of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) partnered with Barangay Colosas, Paquibato District to implement a community-based rehabilitation for drug reformists in Davao.

UIC Kaduyog Sagop Kinabuhi Program is a community-based rehabilitation and aftercare project for people coming from the adopted communities and also a partner of Davao City Anti-Drug Abuse Council.

First District Councilor Edgar Ibuyan Sr. said it is a six-month rehabilitation program for drug reformists to enrich their psychological, psycho-social and physical being. The project would help surrenderees to enhance their economic productivity by exposing them to livelihood education.

The project will also conduct half day or whole day sessions and clinical screening tests on the enrollees.

He also said that Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio fully supports the program as it is aligned with the administration's goal to reduce the number of drugs, corruption and rriminality.

"Nagsabot mi mintras ug wala pa silay trabaho tabangan nato (We will help them while they don't have work yet)," Ibuyan Sr. added.

He assured that after the project, enrollees of the programs will still be monitored.
