Igorot warriors see action in ONE Warrior Series 3

MUAY Thai fighter Jenelyn Olsim together with several Filipino fighters will be showcasing their skills when the third event of ONE Championship’s Warrior Series (OWS) takes place in Singapore Thursday, October 11.

ONE Warrior Series 3 will feature athletes from 15 countries, who will compete in professional bouts for a chance to win a place on the ONE Championship roster, and a contract in excess of $100,000.

Jenelyn Olsim, fresh from her gold medal performance during the East Asian Muay Thai Championships held at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong on August 19 will be among the rising martial arts star to see action in the competition.

Olsim, from Tribal Torogi will make her debut in ONE against Cluadia Diaz of Tiger Muay Thai.

Team Lakay prospect Lito Adiwang also gets a chance to prove his worth in the world stage as he takes on Manuel Huerta who impressed OWS scouts with his smooth grappling during the tryouts.

Israel Bandiwan and Mark Sumalag also got a called up in the tournament.

Bandiwan will square off against Ryuto Sawada while Sumalag sees action with Luo Zhou Jiang Cuo. Olsim's brother Jerry is also in the card as he takes on Ernest Tang.

The main event features two veterans of the first two OWS cards.

One of the most experienced athletes on the roster, Eto Kimihiro, improved his record to 14-4-2 at OWS 2 thanks to a second-round submission of Yusaku Inoue.

He will face JD Fairtex Hardwick, who improved to 2-0 against other top emerging talents in OWS – and 4-1 overall – with stoppages against Zhibo Lu and Davaabayar Enkhtaivan in March and July, respectively.

A subsidiary of ONE Championship, the travel series talent search program features multiple-time world champion and mixed martial arts legend Rich Franklin aims to discover new martial arts talent across Asia, providing promising young athletes with the platform to unleash their martial arts greatness. Franklin, who serves as the show’s host, travels across the Asian continent with co-host Jonathan Fong, searching for talent, experiencing local cultures and testing their boundaries.

The live spectacle will feature various athletes and prospects who participated during the show and who will compete in professional bouts for a chance to win a $100,000++ USD ONE Championship contract. A series of compelling contests await, as fans will be treated to an evening of pure martial arts action.

“Our travel has paid off with 15 countries being represented on our largest card to date. Visiting these amazing cities in Asia and experiencing the culture, while digging beneath the surface for the most promising martial artists on this side of the world has been a fulfilling endeavor, and I can’t wait for our athletes to be able shine on the biggest stage,” said Franklin.
