IRISH Marquez brought home three gold medals for the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) in the Koronadal Mindanao Track and Field Festival held recently at the South Cotabato Sports Complex in Koronadal City.
Marquez heaved the iron ball to a distance of 8.35 meters to clinch the senior women's shot put gold over teammate Stephanie Robantes (7.25m) and Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC) who ended up with the silver and bronze, respectively.
Marquez also won the senior women's discus throw gold over Robantes and the javelin throw gold at the expense of Arianne Mae Pagdato and Althea Abellar of Koronadal National Comprehensive High School.
HCDC annexed five more golds courtesy of Joana Agudo (women's 400m hurdles), Arvie Areglado (men's long jump), Michelle Pandian (women's long jump), Marylan Abe (women's triple jump) and Bruce Pernia (men's heptathlon).
Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) also salvaged one silver and four bronzes. Alexis Cañedo placed second in senior men's discus throw while Ateneo's 4X100 and 4X400m relay teams pocketed bronzes along with David Favilar (senior men's 400m) and Ken Loyd Tan (senior men's 400m).
