Alleged narco-cops transferred to PNP holding unit

THE police officers who were included in the matrix of narco-cops released by President Rodrigo Duterte were reassigned to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Police Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU in Camp Crame effective Thursday, October 11.

PNP chief Oscar Albayalde assigned the following officers to the PHAU pending the investigation of their alleged drug links.

· Police Superintendent Lorenzo Bacia from Police Regional Office (PRO) Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM);

· Police Senior Inspector Lito Pirote from PRO Central Luzon;

· Police Inspector Conrado Caragdag from PRO Cordillera; and

· Senior Police Officer 4 Alejandro Gerardo Liwanag from PRO Cagayan Valley.

Albayalde also cancelled the assignment of Senior Superintendent Leonardo Suan, who was supposed to be transferred to the PRO Armm.

Police officers transferred to PHAU are closely monitored as they are required to report to the said unit everyday.

The said police officers as well as dismissed officer Eduardo Acierto and retired Superintendent Ismael Fajardo Jr. were linked by the President to illegal drugs activities.

Duterte said the police officers got involved in illegal drugs transactions during their assignment at the PNP Drug Enforcement Group. (SunStar Philippines)
