Age group triathlon in Naga moved to Dec. 2

THE 2018 National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) is now set on Dec. 2 in the City of Naga, Cebu after it was postponed due to the devastating landslide that hit the host city.

“We have officially set a new date. This is with the approval of the local government unit of City of Naga, Cebu,” read part of the statement released by TSE Live Inc., the group behind the race.

The organizers told SunStar Cebu yesterday that as their own little way to help the city, they will be giving some parts of the proceeds to the landslide victims.

The race was postponed as the organizers paid respects to the victims and to the affected families who lost their homes and loved ones in a tragic landslide on Sept. 20, burying some of the mountainside houses and leaving at least 78 dead. The original date of the race was on Oct. 7

“We are positive enough that the City of Naga, together with their constituents, has coped-up from the tragedy. Thus, our triathlon activity will push through,” added the statement.

The race will still start and end at the City of Naga Boardwalk and will feature some of the top junior triathletes and veteran age-groupers in the standard, sprint and super sprint distances.

The standard race will cover a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40K bike and a 10K run. The sprint course is a 750-meter swim, a 20K bike and a 5K run, while the super sprint is a 400m swim, a 10K bike and a 2.5K run. (RSC)
