12 golds for Oro Muay Thai fighters

THE Cagayan de Oro Muay Thai fighters (Team CdeO) fell short in defending turf against the visiting Davao City rivals in the 2018 Muay Thai National Championships Mindanao Leg on Sunday at Limketkai Mall Atrium.

Davao City garnered the most medals with 16 golds, 11 silvers and 3 bronzes to capture the over-all title, while Team CdeO delivered 12 golds, 12 silvers and 12 bronzes good for second place.

Despite that, CdeO’s Russel Denver Fabroa and Angelie Sabanal were able to sweep the best individual awards apart from winning a gold each in their respective categories.

Fabroa brought home the best male boxer, while Sabanal took the best female boxer plum.

Fabroa also bagged a gold in the senior’s male 54 kgs, while Sabanal did the same in the senior’s female 54 kgs.

“It is ok. It is very important for us to deliver a quality performance to gain the nod of the local fans,” said Beh Barothy Hung, owner of the Mindanao Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts (MUMMA) in Cagayan de Oro.

CdeO fighters who also won golds were Vert Carlyn (JM 16-17 60 kgs), Queensonciano Braga (JM 16-17 48-51 kgs), Jhonwin Fernandez (SM 60 kgs), JC Baranda (SM 71 kgs), Michael Angelo Cunado (SM 67 kgs), John Rodel Tampipi (JM 16-17, 67 kgs), Jefferson Bujay (SM 51 kgs), Marvie Angelo Damasing (SM 75 kgs), Chuck Martin Echano (SM -91 kgs) and Katrina Limbaroc (SF 48 kgs).

Those who settled for silver medals were Rogen Anselmo (JM 16-17 60 kgs), Matthew Bernard Bacarro (SM 81 kgs), Jasper Ray Navarro (SM 75 kgs), Bless Rey John Divina (JM 14-15 51 kgs), Iremarl Ilisan (SM 71 kgs), Paul Galope (SM 51 kgs), Axcel Gargar Faller (SM 48 kgs), Zachary Cedric Palamine (SM 75 kgs), Felix Christian Quieta (SM 54 kgs),Regine Mae Reyes (SF 45 kgs), Roy Vincent Casil (JM 10-11 36 kgs) and Kenneth Bryan Digal (SM 45 kgs).

Finishing with bronze medals were Harloy Torregoza (JM 16-17 48-51 kgs), Klint Jhon (SM 57 kgs), Al Dagoc (SM 60 kgs), Ian Vincent Barbas (SM 75 kgs), Ransheil Malubay (JM 14-15 51 kgs), Jon Mitchil Alibangbang (JM 14-15 48 kgs), Jornelyde Andaya (JM 14-15 38 kgs), Jason Pana (SM 71 kgs), Reggie Bomediano & John Steven Baccarsa (SM 67 kgs), Rafael Lacubtan (JM 16-17 67 kgs) and Jerry Jagape (SM 51 kgs).
