Bacolod national finalist in eGov awards anew

BACOLOD City is again a national finalist in the eGov Awards 2018, or the “digitalcitiesPH Awards: Best Practices in eGovernance for LGUs” of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Bacolod is competing in the G2B (Best in Business Empowerment), one of the six categories of the eGov awards, with its entry called, “Automated Clearance System (ACS).”

“This is another encouraging development. While our goal is really to improve the delivery of services to the public, this is also a recognition of our officials and employees’ efforts to upgrade the quality of local governance. We must avail of the benefits of new technology to provide better service to our people,” Mayor Evelio Leonardia said after being informed of this new national award.

The ACS enhances and streamlines the process for the renewal of business permits. It lessens the face-time of the taxpayers in processing their permits with various offices or agencies, thus saving their time.

The other five categories are G2C (Best in Customer Empowerment), G2G (Best in Government Inter-Operability Empowerment, P2G (Best in Digital Finance Empowerment), D2G (Best in Data-Driven Governance), G2W (Best in Systems for Global Competitiveness.

The G2B (Best in Business Empowerment) Award cites the significant effect of an LGU’s laudable practices in integrating ICT solutions and the LGUs responsiveness to the needs of business enterprises, thereby creating business opportunities.

The Digital Cities PH Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila.

The judging was held on September 13 to 14 in Makati City, where the Bacolod City Government was represented by City Planning and Development Office coordinator Mary Jean Ramos, Management Information Technology and Computer Services (MITCS) OIC Ramon de los Reyes, MITCS data controller Hanzel Mañoso, and MITCS computer programmer Jan Michael Makilan.

The eGov Awards is a DITC project in collaboration with the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

On November last year, Bacolod received two trophies and two certificates of recognition for being a finalist in the two categories of the e-Gov Awards 2017 at the awarding ceremony in Cagayan de Oro City.

Bacolod's entry called eBIN or Electronic Barangay Information Network became a finalist in two categories, D2G (Best in Data-Driven Governance) and G2G (Best in Government Inter-Operability). (PR)
