MINALIN -- Aside from the Kapampangans who rejoiced over the unexpected alliance between Vice Governor Dennis Pineda and Fourth District Representative Juan Pablo Bondoc recently, House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Governor Lilia Pineda have also expressed their gratefulness for the unity initiated by the two gentlemen leaders.

During the groundbreaking ceremony of the P4.7-billion flood control project on Tuesday, the two Kapampangan women-leaders made public their gratefulness to Bondoc and Vice Governor Pineda for leading the example of harmonious relationship between Pampanga leaders.

It could be remembered that Bondoc and Vice Governor Pineda, both scions of political families in Pampanga, had forged their alliance recently after over a decade of being caught in a cold war-like scenario.

Arroyo, who is godmother to both Bondoc and Vice Governor Pineda, uttered her gratefulness to her godsons for prioritizing the welfare of the province and people over the personal advancements and interests.

“Dakal pung salamat king Ginu ali tana masipit ika tamung Kapampangan (Thank you very much to our Lord, our welfare as Kapampangans will never be put between two rivaling leaders [Bondoc and Vice Governor Pineda],” said Arroyo while in prayer gesture.

A photo of Arroyo with Bondoc holding a copy of SunStar Pampanga October 8 issue featuring the exclusive story of the joining of forces of the two leaders shows her approval on the change in political landscape of Pampanga also landed on the front page of this daily newspaper on Tuesday.

Governor Pineda expressed her gratitude to Bondoc for being one with and sharing the same vision of providing development and progress for the province and the Kapampangan people.

“Maraming salamat naman sa pagkakaisa natin ngayon dito sa Pampanga (Thank you for the reigning unity among us here in Pampanga). Thank you, Rimpy [Bondoc],” Pineda said as she acknowledged Bondoc during her speech.

Meanwhile, in the sidelines of the groundbreaking ceremony, Bondoc and Vice Governor Pineda have officially endorsed each other for the respective positions they are seeking in the coming midterm polls.

Bondoc will be seeking re-election as representative of his district, a position he was holding since 1998 to 2004 and again re-elected in 2010 up to present.

Vice Governor Pineda, for his part, is eyeing to succeed Governor Pineda as the provincial chief executive after heading the Provincial Board since 2010.
