6 killed in Oro drug war

AT LEAST six suspected drug personalities were killed in police operations in Cagayan de Oro City while around 400 drug suspects were arrested and currently facing drug charges in the last two quarters of this year.

Data from the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) showed these drug suspects were nabbed during the 328 anti-illegal drug operations from April to September, this year.

Anti-illegal drug operatives filed 435 cases in court.

Records show that the six drug suspects were killed in the last two months after they supposedly fought back with the operatives in what the police claimed as buy bust operation.

In said operations, authorities seized a total of 575 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” and 75 grams of marijuana.

Operatives also arrested eight high value targets in the illegal drug trade, mostly were government employees.

Early this week, city police director Senior Superintendent Nelson Aganon has asked the city government for additional fund to support the government's war on drugs.

Aganon said the city police requested for an additional P1.3 million for anti-illegal drug operations and fuel allocation.
