SPECIAL Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go has turned over initial funding of P5 million to the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) for the operations of the Malasakit Center in Zamboang City.

Go led the opening of the Malasakit Center on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the ZCMC to hasten the delivery of medical services and to provide free medicines to poor patients in the city.

He said the P5 million he turned over is a counterpart fund of Malacañang for the Malasakit Center here, which is the 14th all over the country.

Go said the center is a one-stop-shop of government agencies that provide assistance to poor patients like the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

The center will also have an express lane for senior citizens and person with disability (PWD).

Go said the only requirement to avail the services of the Malasakit Center is that “you must be a Filipino citizen.”

He said the services in the Malasakit Center are for everybody and free citing there is no politics involved.

“Anyone who is sick can avail of the assistance at the center,” he emphasized.

He also visited the elderly patients admitted at the government-run ZCMC after leading the opening of the Malasakit Center. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
