100 operators not qualified to get subsidy

OVER 100 public utility jeepney (PUJ) operators in Central Visayas are not qualified to get the P5,000 fuel subsidy cards distributed by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 7 through the Land Bank of the Philippines.

LTFRB 7 Director Eduardo Montealto Jr. said they could not receive the subsidy because the franchises registered in the office were not named after them.

But it wasn’t the fault of the operators.

Montealto explained that some operators may have bought second-hand PUJ units but failed to change the registration of their franchises.

But the LTFRB is doing something to solve it.

“The central office is already making a resolution if they would allow the present owner (to get the subsidy card),” said Montealto.

There are also issues on operators who are already in other countries. How are they supposed to receive their fuel subsidy?

All complaints and reports related to the first batch of distribution of Pantawid Pasada Program subsidy cards in the region will be collated by the regional office for a better distribution in the future.

Only 1,900 cards have been claimed in the region so far, out of the 5,354 cards allotted for the region.

Each card contains a P5,000 fuel allocation from the government. SCG
