REP. Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas (Cebu, 1st district) confirmed that the Alayon Party has formed a coalition with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

Samsam, along with his grandfather, Talisay City Mayor Eduardo “Eddiegul” Gullas, met with Duterte-Carpio in Davao City last Friday.

In the national level, Alayon continues to be allies with PDP-Laban, the party of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Thank you, Mayor Sara Duterte, for finding time to meet Papa Eddie and I in Davao,” Samsam said in a Facebook post. “Looking forward to our alliance and our support for your senatorial slate in the May 2019 elections.”

Samsam shared a photo of their meeting, which also featured his grandfather Eddiegul.

The younger Gullas denied as “fake news” reports that have proliferated in the first district that Eddiegul suffered a mild stroke and is expected to back down from his intention of running for Congress in next year’s midterm elections.

Samsam confirmed that they will swap places: his grandfather will run to replace him as a congressional representative while he will run for mayor. JKV
