EIGHT suspected drug personalities were arrested while some P22,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City on Saturday, October 13.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said charges were being prepared against Jamal Antonio; Baybayan Ismael, 64; Arnel Victoria, 36; Quennie Gail Ariola, 23; Carlito Miller, 55; Benjie Bigdas, 22;
Al-Rasheed Salih, 37; and, Daroz Salimuddin.
Galvez said Antonio was arrested in a drug bust at 11:20 a.m. Saturday along Don Toribio Street in Tetuan.
Confiscated from Antonio’s possession were six sachets of suspected shabu worth P2,000 and P200 marked money.
Ismael, a newly-identified illegal drug peddler, was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 2:20 p.m. Saturday in Sitio Sibiktol in Arena Blanco.
Seized from the suspect’s possession were P15,200 worth of suspected shabu packed in three large-size sachets as well as P200 marked money.
Galvez said Victoria, also a newly-identified drug personality, was arrested around 1:20
p.m. Saturday in Sitio Salum, San Roque.
Seized from his possession were P2,800 worth of suspected shabu packed in eight heat-sealed plastic sachets and P200 marked money.
Ariola and Miller were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 9 p.m. Saturday in the village of Camino Nuevo.
Seized from them were two sachets of suspected shabu worth P500 and P200 marked money.
Bigdas and Salih were arrested at 11:40 a.m. Saturday in Barangay Cawit with P1,500 worth of suspected shabu packed in 12 small-size plastic sachets. Seized from them was the P300 marked money.
Salimuddin was arrested around 10 p.m. Saturday for possession of a small-sized sachet of suspected shabu in Purok 7, Mampang.
Galvez said the sachet of shabu accidentally fell from his wallet when soldiers asked for his identification card at a checkpoint.
