Mayor lauds city Peso

CLARK FREEPORT -- Mayor Francis "Blueboy" Nepomuceno has lauded this city's Public Employment Service Office (Peso) that was recently hailed as outstanding by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole).

Dole gave the award to the city Peso during its recent year-end Performance Assessment, Capability Enhancement Training and Recognition of Outstanding Public Employment Service Office in Clark.

Nepomuceno said the award is recognition of the various programs being implemented by the Peso headed by Adelina Deocales.

For the third time, the city Peso was declared the Best Public Employment Service on highly urbanized city category. It is now elevated to the Hall of Fame status. It earned the award for its outstanding performance in the promotion and delivery of services.

The city Peso also earned the 2009 National Best Peso Award.

According to Deocales, last year's Peso assisted and referred a total of 11,408 applicants to different private companies and entities for local and overseas employment.

"Public employment is one of the priorities of the Nepomuceno administration. We ought to provide a venue for people to explore various employment options locally and overseas," Deocales said.

In support to this endeavor, 33 barangay secretaries were designated as coordinators to provide assistance to job applicants.

Pesos are linked to Dole for coordination and technical supervision. (RGN)
