Abrigo: What is wrong with Duterte, Duterte, and Duterte?

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio last week announced her elder brother former vice mayor Pulong Duterte seeks a congressional seat under the Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

Pulong on the first day of filing went straight to the Comelec.

If the three Dutertes will take the fire and file their respective COCs then obviously these young Dutertes will continue to rule Davao. A pattern of Dynasty if you may call it!

But May 13 election is an election, a democratic process of selecting government officials to rule for the next three years. The voting populace has the prerogative and freewill to choose from the many faces who will also vie for the position. Unless of course if the incumbent vice mayor Bernard Al-ag as he announced, will throw his hat to Baste or any of the Dutertes for the position.

On the higher ground, Mayor Sara will of course, I can bet with my balls that no one will stand to oppose.

The Dutertes are farsighted in politics. In leadership, they are good, no question. So much so, that when the father Duterte leave the city for the national post, many if not all veteran city councilors under the Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod geared up. But their numbers were too numerous for the limited available positions. And so the young Dutertes to evade from the overcrowding Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod, chuted to a new party Hugpong ng Pagbabago to give an equal chance to the veteran councilors to run for a higher post.

Dynasty if you may call it. But as for me, as long as the democracy is functioning with the electoral process there is nothing wrong with the Dutertes. abrigodann@gmail.com
