PHILIPPINE National Police chief Oscar Albayalde reiterated his instructions to all police commanders to serve as models and impose discipline on their men.
“As Chief PNP, I want to underscore the fact that under my term, we will leave no stones unturned in addressing the nation’s peace and order problems, particularly on illegal drugs and crime, as well as police scalawags in providing to our country men that they indeed have a police force that is sincere and resolute in its mission,” Albayalde said during the 117th Police Service Anniversary at Camp Major Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad town, Benguet.
“As we have seen in recent weeks, there are still uniformed men involved in the illegal drug trade. And what is truly unfortunate is that our problem not only includes the lower ranks, but also the officers, especially in the middle level who directly supervise the personnel on the ground,” he said.
Albayalde said he holds all police commanders responsible for disciplining their personnel, and upholding the integrity and honor of the organization.
“Kayo dapat and ehemplo ng marangal na paglilingkod na tintingala at sinusunod ng inyong mga miyembro. Kayo dapat and nangunguna sa pagpapakita ng displina sa inyong mga Gawain at pakikisama sa iba. At kayo dapat ang magdadala sa inyong mga tauhan sa tunay na tagumpay sa pagpapatupad ng batas, lalo na sa pakikibaka laban sa iligal na droga,” stressed Albayalde.
The PNP official added that even before the release of President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug matrix, cops allegedly engaged in illegal drugs, were all relieved from their own posts and they are in the holding and accounting unit of Camp Crame pending investigation.
Albayalde added the PNP has filed cases against 672 officers since 2016 under the Duterte administration.
“Because of violations of human rights, kami na po mismo ang nagkaso ng sarili naming personnel. 672 lahat iyan. They are facing administrative charges related to human rights violations,” Albayalde added.
On October 12, at least 11 individual and seven unit awards were given to the Police Regional Office-Cordillera as part of the 117th Police Service Anniversary celebration.
