Carpenter, driver killed on Christmas Day

A CARPENTER and a driver were killed in a Chirstmas Day gun attack in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the victims as Felix Pelonio Mancao, 38, a carpenter; and Arnel Labajo Sagario, 39, a habal-habal (motor taxi) driver.

Investigation showed the victims were on their way home when three people waylaid them around 2 a.m. on Christmas Day in Purok Villarte in Kapamanok village, San Pablo, Zamboanga del Sur.

Duco said the suspects repeatedly hacked and shot them which resulted in the instantaneous death of the victims.

He said the suspects, who are all farmers, were identified as Julieto Viosada Alquiza, 47; Daniel Angcot Yarez, 27; and Ronniebert Angcot Yarez, 23. A manhunt was launched to arrest them.

Duco said the motive of the incident was believed to be a personal grudge. (SunStar Zamboanga)
