Anti-drug sting nets drug syndicate member

A MEMBER of a drug syndicate was arrested in a law enforcement operation in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported.

Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspect as Abdulsalim Modapil Mangungaya, 34, who carries the aliases Dondon Sanday and Dondon Duterte.

Ylagan said Mangungaya was arrested by joint police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives in a law enforcement operation by way of service of a warrant of arrest around 8:15 p.m. Thursday, December 24, in Purok Lakturan in San Pedro village, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

He said Mangungaya is a member of Pating Drug Group based in the town of Margosatubig of the same province.

Ylagan said Mangungaya has three standing warrants of arrest, one for murder and two for illegal drug cases, issued by the court of San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur.

The suspect was listed as a Top-1 priority target on illegal drugs of Margosatubig Municipal Police Station.

Ylagan said Mangungaya was arrested on July 5, 2018, but was able to escape three days after his arrest from the Margosatubig Municipal Police Station. (SunStar Zamboanga)
