DAVAO City entrepreneur Mary Ann Montemayor was recently commissioned as Hungary's honorary consul to Mindanao boosting its ties with Davao City.

"The decision of Hungary to open an honorary consulate in Mindanao is a welcome development and acknowledgement of the dynamic economy and vital role our city plays in various cooperation pacts signed by the two countries," Montemayor said on Friday, October 12, during her induction as Hungary's honorary consul to Mindanao at Verdon Parc.

Montemayor said the expanding relationship with Hungary will provide Davao City valuable opportunities in deepening the economic engagements of Hungary in the country.

"I look forward to nurturing relations in the field of trade, tourism, investment, and support Hungarian citizens in the region," she said.

Davao City mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio, in a message delivered by assistant city administrator lawyer Tristan Dwight Domingo, said Hungary's expansion of its consular coverage in Davao will allow them to share their practices to the Filipinos here.

"Through mutually beneficial cooperations, I am optimistic that it will take the city to greater sustainable development," Duterte-Carpio said.

Montemayor said, "We look forward to exciting times in strengthening ties facilitating trade and investment."
