LIGO seeks to further expand its brand in Mindanao following the success of the viral "Maka-higugma Nga Lami" Ligo commercial.

"We plan to continue our Mindanao initiative whether or not it is more on promotion or sales effort," Mikko Tung, A. Tung Chingco Corporation (ATC) Vice President of Production, said during the "Kaon Ta’g Ligo, Davao" event at Rekado, Davao City.

He said right now they are in the planning stage for their initiatives in expanding the brand in Mindanao.

"It is really a lot of interaction with the people here through feeding programs, joining festivals, and promotions," Tung said.

He said though they are quite known in Metro Manila and have been in the industry for over six decades, they are seen as a new brand in Mindanao.

"We are tapping into the potentials of Mindanao market. Mahilig sila (Mindanawons) sa sardines, it is about time we extend our presence here," Tung said.

After the success of the "Maka-higugma Nga Lami" Ligo commercial, which featured Tom Rodriguez, Ligo saw an increase in sales in Mindanao.

"We felt it the most in Davao and General Santos City," said Mark Tung, ATC Vice President of Sales.

Mikko said they have factories in Zamboanga and Metro Manila. The plant in Zamboanga is still able to produce enough Ligo Sardine products to cater to their demands here.

Meanwhile, Mark said they hope to penetrate more export markets. He said they are eyeing Fiji and South America.
