Tight security in Moises Padilla as Yulo files COC

THE Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) tightened its security in Moises Padilla town as Vice Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo files her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for mayor today, October 16.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., director of Nocppo, in a phone interview with SunStar Bacolod yesterday, said they will provide one team of the 2nd Maneuver Company of the Provincial Mobile Force (PMF) led by Chief Inspector Lowell Garinganao for the vice mayor's security.

"They will escort the vice mayor from the Negros Occidental District Jail (NODJ) in Bago City to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Moises Padilla," he added.

Castil said the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) has requested for security assistance and there was also an instruction from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas

He said the police escort is only intended for her transport security to ensure her safety back and forth.

"Our policemen are ready and alert for possible threats," he stressed.

Meanwhile, Chief Inspector Castle Masip, outgoing jail warden of NODJ, said they have provided their own security for the vice mayor aside from the policemen.

Masip said Garcia-Yulo and her husband Felix Mathias Segundo Yulo III were transferred to NODJ’s custody on October 9 at 7 p.m. through a commitment order.

Both were detained at La Castellana Municipal Police Station after they surrendered to the authorities in Bacolod City last month.

They have arrest warrants for illegal possession of explosives, and also of firearms and ammunition.

Hearings on cases with bail like the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition are ongoing.
