Hold-up suspect killed, 2 arrested in Zambo Norte

A ROBBERY hold-up suspect was killed while two others were arrested in hot pursuit operation in Liloy town, Zamboanga del Norte, the police said Tuesday, October 16.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the slain robbery hold-up suspect as Roy Sultan, who is said to be aged between 40 and 45.

Galvez said Sultan’s arrested cohorts were identified as Avelino Lacsamana alias In-In, 28, a construction worker; and Neil Erick Laman, a carpenter.

She said that Sultan opened fire upon seeing the approaching policemen in a hot pursuit operation at 10:35 a.m. Monday in Overview village, Liloy.

Sultan missed his target prompting the pursuing policemen to return fire hitting the suspect, who was rushed but failed to reach the hospital alive, Galvez added.

She said the cops recovered from Sultan a caliber .38 revolver with three live ammunition and two empty shells and from Laman was a caliber .38 revolver with six live ammunition.

The pursuing policemen have arrested Edison Gregorio, 44, for obstruction of justice, Galvez added.

The police official said Sultan, Laman, and Lacsamana were positively identified by witnesses as the perpetrators of a robbery hold-up of a pharmacy on Saturday, October 13, at the bus terminal in Baybay village, Liloy town.

Earlier police report said the suspects carted away more or less P15,000 cash from the pharmacy. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
