MisOr guv to tap experts on sightings of sperm whales

GOVERNOR Yevgeny Emano is set to tap experts and form a group to conduct a study over the recent sightings of “Ambuhutan” or sperm whales along the Misamis Oriental bay area.

Emano said the sightings of sperm whales at a resort in Initao town last May and in Salay late last month had prompted him to conduct a study on how to properly handle this kind of species.

The capitol said the presence of these endangered marine mammals proved that the province's sea waters is clean.

The capitol's top official said apart from protecting the sea waters of the province, taking care of the sperm whales may also attract tourists in the future.

Emano believes that the study of such thing would help boost the province’s tourism-related programs.
