Motorela fare back at P7

THE Cagayan de Oro City Hall Tuesday, October 16, issued a reminder to commuters, motorela drivers and operators that the motorela fare remains at P7 due to the recent rollback of the price of special gasoline from P55.01 last week to P54.60 and P54.70 this week.

City Administrator Teddy Sabuga-a also clarified that motorela drivers and operators are authorized to automatically adjust the fare rate, citing Ordinance Np. 13431-2018 which dictates the motorela fare matrix.

Sabuga-a pointed out a petition is no longer needed to increase or lower the fare, as the adjustment will depend on the gasoline prices.

Regular fare is set at P8, P6.50 for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs), and P5 for elementary pupils when special gasoline price reaches P55.01-P65 per liter.

If gasoline price is lower than P55.01, the fare will automatically adjust to less than P1.

The statement was issued amid confusion of the sudden increase of motorela fare in the past weeks.

City Councilor Teodulfo Lao Jr. earlier said that a petition must first be passed before asking an additional P1 from the commuters, a claim debunked by the City Administrator's Office.

Sabuga-a reminded drivers that overcharging will face penalty of as much as P500.
