THREE out of the seven House representatives from Cebu said they will support the candidacy of Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale for governor and Gov. Hilario Davide III for vice governor.
Cebu Reps. Ramon “Red” Durano (Cebu, 5th), Peter John Calderon (Cebu, 7th) and Wilfredo Caminero (Cebu, 2nd) assured Magpale and Davide of their support when they filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) before the Cebu Provincial Election Office yesterday.
Durano told reporters that he and members of the Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (Bakud) party in Cebu’s fifth district had assured the tandem of victory.
Durano is the current provincial chairman of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) in Cebu.
In a separate interview, Caminero said he will continue to support Davide even if the latter had slid down to vice governor.
Caminero said that being both from Argao, he treats Davide like a brother.
“He is very close to my family. Since I was a young boy, I have been close to the Davide family,” Caminero said.
Even if Davide and Magpale switched places, Caminero will continue to support their tandem.
Calderon also assured the tandem of his support in the next elections.
Aside from Caminero, Durano and Calderon, those who also filed their COCs before the Cebu Provincial Election Office yesterday were reelectionist Provincial Board Members Horacio Franco, Christopher Baricuatro and Jerome Librando. (JKV)
