DILG-Western Visayas evaluates NegOcc for Excell awards

THE Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Western Visayas evaluated the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental Tuesday, October 16, for the Search for Excellence in Local Governance (Excell) Awards.

The evaluation that included documentary review and interview was held at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, attended by Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Board Members Helen Zafra and Juvy Pepillo, and the Capitol department and office heads, and focal persons.

The evaluators also had site visits to some Capitol offices and had ocular inspections in specific areas.

The Excell Awards is aimed at giving recognition to local government units (LGUs) that showed exemplary performance in local governance and introduced sustainable innovative programs and best practices, among others.

It recognizes the best-managed LGUs in the region, showcasing their achievements in Administrative Governance, Social Governance, Economic Governance, Environmental Governance, and Local Legislation.

The evaluating team was led by Ildefonso Orquejo Jr. of the DILG. Other evaluators were lawyer Philip Bernard Capadosa of the Civil Service Commission, Pamela Denise Cababasay of the Department of Tourism, Myren Zerrudo of the Environmental Management Bureau, PCI Rolando Araño of the Philippine National Police, Maria Victoria Borines of the Department of Labor and Employment, Kristine Solas of the Dept. of Health, Noemi Aledron of the Department of Agriculture, Nelia Mabilog of Lions Club, and Francis Oliver Ortiz, Darrelle Thea Abad, Karen Joy Mansuelo, Aaron Andaya, and Ellen Sibag of the DILG.

According to Orquejo, the Excell Awards is not only aimed at giving recognition but also intends to help LGUs in managing their performance.

Lacson said that more than the award, the Provincial Government is doing its best in terms of government service that benefits the Negrenses. (PR)
