4 suspected BIFF members arrested in Maguindanao

FOUR suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters who were allegedly planning to stage an attack in Sultan Kudarat were arrested on Wednesday morning, October 17, in Maguindanao.

Spokesperson of the 6th Infantry Division, Major Arvin Encinas, said Datu Parido Banabagan, alias Kumander Banog, and three others who are yet to be identified were nabbed during joint police and military operations in Barangay Lumabao, General Salipada K. Pendatun, around 5 a.m.

Banabagan was the alleged leader of the group.

Recovered from the suspects were two M14 rifles, two RPG launchers, and three grenades.

Encinas said based on intelligence report, the arrested BIFF members were gathering information, as they are planning to launch an attack in the municipality of Lambayong in Sultan Kudarat.

The arrested suspects were brought to the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao for proper disposition. (SunStar Philippines)
