IT’S a toss–up between La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda and Vice–Mayor Joey Marrero for the town’s top elective post.
Salda will seek re-election after filing his certificate of candidacy with Councilor Roderick Awingan as his running mate under the Partido Demokratriko Pilipino-Laban ng Bayan (PDP-Laban). Joining them in their slate for the town’s council seeking re-election are Councilor Arthur Shontogan, Nestor Fongwan Jr., Guiller Galwan, and Renato Tereng.
Also in the local PDP–Laban slate are Teddy Walang, Francis Lee, and Jayson Dangwa vying for councilor.
Marrero meanwhile will banner the National Union Party who filed his CoC at the Comelec office on Tuesday with incumbent Councilor Horacio Ramos eyeing the town’s Vice Mayor with Rolando Leon, Clint Ogas, Daniel Taltala, Pedro Golocan Jr., Delfin Atingad, Cortez Dagupen, Adriano Bengdaen and Manuel Dulnuan as Councilors.
Also gunning the vice mayor seat is incumbent Councilor Henry Kipas under Lakas CMD.
Other candidates for the councilor include John Botiwey, Belmer Elis, Pamelo Joy Keith, and Paul Cuyopan. Except for Botiwey who is running under Lakas, the three are running as independent.
During the 2015 elections, Salda and Marrero run with the same party, however, the mayor said he has no ill feelings against his rival.
“I know that he will be filing for mayor since last month. We welcome it, although we are party bet last election. It’s okay, no hard feelings,” said Salda who is hoping for a peaceful elections in the valley.
Marrero also expressed the same sentiments adding if given a chance, he will continue programs, projects and activities that will help the town.
