2 Maute members surrender to troops

TWO members of the Maute Terror Group have surrendered bringing to a total of 10 followers who yielded to the government authorities this month in Lanao del Sur, the military said Wednesday, October 17.

Major General Roseller Murillo, Army’s 1st Infantry Division commander, said the two members who surrendered around 3 p.m. Tuesday in Lumbaca-Unayan town, turned over a caliber .50 machinegun and a caliber .30 M1 Garand rifle. They surrendered to Lieutenant Colonel Ian Noel Ignes, Army’s 55th Infantry Battalion of the Joint Task Force Ranao.

Murillo said the two Maute group surrenderers, whose identities were withheld, were placed under custodial debriefing.

Seven of them surrendered on October 9 in Pagayawan, while the other one, a sniper, on October 10 in Butig, also this province. (SunStar Philippines)
