DAVAO City ranked ten places higher as one of the top outsourcing destinations in the world, beating its 85th spot from last year’s list based on Tholons Services Globalization Index.
Samuel Matunog, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Davao president, underscored the importance of the increase ranking state of Davao City amidst the implementation of martial law in Mindanao.
“It’s a very good development for the city, and a very good result for us in the technology and communications industry,” Matunog said on Wednesday October 17, at Habi at Kape, Abreeza Mall, Davao City.
Matunog said the improvement in the ranking is attributed with the city’s continued development in the digital market.
“We improved because they learned that there are really many things that we are doing in terms of improving digital transformation and our start-up ecosystem,” Matunog said.
“The start-up ecosystem and digital transformation is a new part in the category of scoring the cities, and it contributed 20 percent to the total score,” Matunog added.
The ICT president also said the upcoming innovation summit on October 20 to 22 at Marco Polo Hotel will further empower the ICT developments in the city and for the country.
Matunog said keynote speakers will be talking about technology-enabled social enterprises through e-commerce platforms; developments on accessing health services through e-health; and turbocharging the digital superhighway.
“With all these things converging developments in Davao through big projects, we hope to attract more locators, provide more workers, employment opportunities, and of course, market locally-developed technology products,” Matunog said. (GAD)
