13 entreps, Kabankalan City to showcase Negrense products at Manila Fame 2018

THE City Government of Kabankalan and 13 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province will showcase Negrense products during this year’s Manila Fame at the World Trade Center in Pasay City on Friday, October 19.

Manila Fame: Furnishings and Apparel Manufacturers’ Exchange is a bi-annual showcase of craftsmanship, design innovation, and artisanship in Philippine products held every April and October.

Now on its 68th year, the three-day event aims to promote the country as a reliable sourcing destination for high-quality home, fashion, holiday, architectural and interior pieces.

Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, the country’s premier lifestyle and design event shows support to MSMEs as they present their masterpieces to the global exports market.

Mae Buaron, senior trade and industry development specialist of DTI-Negros Occidental, on Wednesday, October 17, said Kabankalan City will feature the products of Fr. Bryan Gore of Negros Nine and those of weavers from Barangay Oringao.

Buaron said the city will be joined by seven exhibitors from the province in displaying locally made products at the Artisan Village of Negros Occidental sponsored by the Provincial Government.

These enterprises include Yssa’s Craft, Babylan’s Coco Craft, Negros Silk Association, Elle Ge Garments, Ynes Moda Infantile, Apolonio Nature Farm, and Alter Trade Corp.

Six other Negrense MSMEs will also be showcasing their products in other booths at the World Trade Center. These are Hacienda Crafts, Silay Export Inc., Artisana Island Craft, PLV Trading, Tumandok Craft Industries, and Creative Definition.

“These MSMEs under different sectors are assisted by DTI through various trainings like product development. Manila Fame will be their second market testing after the recent 33rd Negros Trade Fair,” she said, adding that “we are hoping for more booked orders on top of their actual sales.”

DTI-Negros Occidental considers the Manila Fame as one ideal platform that could boost local enterprises as it enables them to promote their products to local and foreign markets.

Also, the agency lauded the support of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. to Negrense entrepreneurs, who have been actively participating in various national and international trade fairs like the Manila Fame.

For this year, the provincial government also funded for the exhibitors’ participation fee, freight cost, booth rentals, and plane fare, among other expenses.

“Bringing our MSMEs to such event where local and foreign buyers converge equips them with the knowledge especially on market trends and potentials,” Buaron said, adding that these enterprises contribute to employment generation in the province.
