2-day jobs fair set in Zamboanga City

THE Zamboanga City Government through the Public Employment Service Office (Peso) and other stakeholders is holding a two-day Hermosa Jobs Fair from Friday to Saturday, October 19 to 20.

Peso head Maria Socorro Rojas said the jobs fair will be held at the East Wing of the KCC Mall de Zamboanga starting at 9 a.m.

Rojas, who is also the city social welfare and development officer, said that some 12,000 jobs will be up for grabs in the two-day job fair organized by her office in partnership with the Department of labor and Employment (Dole), Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA), Technical Skills Development Authority (Tesda) and KCC mall de Zamboanga.

Of the total jobs that will be made available, 2,952 will be for local employment while 9,560 will be for placement abroad

Rojas said the jobs fair is open for high school graduates, college graduates of any course, TESDA skills training graduates and other categories with ages 18 and above.

She said that at least 50 agencies – 35 local and 15 overseas - are expected to participate in the annual job fair organized by the city as part of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

She advised the applicants to be in proper attire and to bring resume' and other pertinent documents to present to the recruitment agencies.

To add color to the event, Tesda will be offering free massage, beauty care and haircut services while the Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth and Pag-Ibig fund will also provide registration services and updating of membership. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
