Sungduan: Bonding with Carrot Man

CORDILLERANS working in Hong Kong are known for their traits as industrious and dedicated to their profession.

Apart from that, they also play a vital role in promoting and preserving their own cultural heritage and tradition in the country known as the Asia’s Trade Fair Capital. They are also very supportive to young and promising Cordilleran talents.

This was evident in the first ever concert of the internet sensation and Igorot Pride Jeyrick Sigmaton “Carrot Man” at the Grappa's Cellar Jardine House in Central in Hong Kong on September 23.

Many of those who hailed from Mountain Province arrived at the event wearing their traditional attire “tapis” as their way of showing their support to the artist.

They even opened the show with an Igorot Dance such as the pattong and boggie with their idol joining in the presentation.

Words cannot describe how happy they are upon hearing the Igorot pride sing songs evoking memories about their hometown.

Since his songs were also familiar to them, they can’t help but sing with their idol and dance to the beat of his upbeat Igorot songs.

Such incidents including their bonding time with their idol whom they have a selfie and groufie are considered as treasured moments which they will never forget.

For Igorota vlogger and OWF in Hong Kong Czarina Bawing, having an up close and personal interview with the Cordillera heartthrob at the back stage before his concert was a dream come true for her.

Event organizer Beatriz Marcos Doguil said organizing the concert is also their way of promoting the very unique cultural heritage of the Igorots and to show their support to a very talented kailyan.

“We have to do it to promote the culture and traditions of the Cordillerans and empowering the local artists,” Doguil said.

The Cordilleran artistic heritage will continue to live on with the help of OFWs promoting the inherited cultural practices.
