FELCRIS Supermarket will be implementing a series of internal improvements in a bid to regain its market share in the local retail scene.

"Times have changes, we want to regain the glory that we had before," Stephen Yap, Felcris Supermarket vice president, said in a media roundtable on Thursday, October 18.

He admitted that Felcris was not able to keep up with the changes in the retail industry as the competition have become much stiffer in recent years.

Yap said this is evident with the way the company is doing its business and its overall look.

He said in a bid to regain their "former glory," they will be renovating their stores, improving the products offered by Davao Convenience, and improve internal processes.

The company has set its eyes on improving their 24 branches of Felcris and Central Warehouse in the provinces they are present at. They have already improved the look of their branches in Panabo, Davao del Norte and San Francisco, Agusan de Sur. The company is presently renovating its Felcris Quirino branch.

For their Central Convenience, they will be improving their ready-to-eat food. Currently, they have 124 branches across Mindanao.

In improving its brand image, the company will be rolling out promotions and activities that are not only aimed to their loyal customers but also to the younger generation as well.

Yap said at present, a bulk of their customers are those who grew up with the brand. In the survey that they did, not many of the younger generation are familiar with Felcris or questions its existence.

Yap, meanwhile, said they still have no short-term plans for expansion.

He pointed out that they want to first improve their current stores and internal processes before they expand. However, they hope to double their Central Convenience branches in the next five years.
