SIX village officials of Tejero, Cebu City tested negative of drug use, according to the top police official in Central Visayas.

Chief Supt. Debold Sinas said Tejero Barangay Captain Hermogenes Galang Jr. and Barangay Councilors Joseph Galang, Niño Lao, Dindo Nuñez, Henry Lawas and Rudy Albaño are not drug users.

Sinas subjected the barangay officials to a surprise drug test when they visited his office last week.

Galang and the councilors visited Sinas to clear their names that they are not drug protectors.

Only two barangay councilors, including Jessielou Cadungog, who did not go along with the group.

Cadungog's bodyguard-driver William Macaslang shot PO3 Eugene Calumba last July. Macaslang claimed self-defense in shooting the police officer, whom he accused

of pulling out a gun.

Macaslang has a pending homicide case in court.

Sinas earlier said they are investigating government officials who have suspected links with three sisters, who were caught in a drug bust during the one-time big-time operations last Oct. 4.

Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention Chief Garry Lao, a former Tejero councilman, accompanied the officials. He also tested negative of drug use. (KAL)
