THREE children drowned in separate incidents in Victorias City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, October 17.

Police identified the fatalities as two-year-old Kara Mendoza and her twin sister Sarah of Barangay 10; and Jay Ian Villa, three-year-old of Barangay 8.

Chief Inspector Eduardo Corpuz, city police chief, said Thursday, October 18, the twins were found floating in a deep well near their house around 11:30 a.m.

Investigation showed the mother of the twins asked her mother Kitchy to take care of her children for a while, however, Kitchy fell asleep and the twins walked towards the eight-foot-deep well near their house.

The twins were rushed to Ikaayong Lawas Foundation Hospital in Victorias City where they were declared dead.

Four hours later, Corpuz said they were informed that a three-year-old boy also drowned in a river at Barangay 8.

He said Villa’s body was found floating by Analyn Anhaw, who was washing clothes in the river.

Anhaw sought the assistance of their neighbors to rescue the boy.

Villa was also brought to Ikaayong Lawas Foundation Hospital, but he did not survive.

Corpuz said they are still conducting further investigation of the incident.

He reminded the parents to always take care of their children to avoid similar incidents.
