Carmen improves sports facilities for Provincial Meet

THE municipality of Carmen will host the 2018 Cebu Provincial Meet next month.

The Cebu Provincial Schools division coordinator Nenita Jaralve said this will be the third time that Carmen will host the meet, which is a qualifier for the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (Cviraa).

“Carmen is preparing now for the provincial meet set in the third week of November. In fact, the local government unit of Carmen has been developing its sporting facilities,” she said.

Jaralve pointed out that one of the venues that was developed is the swimming pool. She said bleachers have been installed to give enough space for the public and supporters.

“Last year, there were no bleachers in swimming pool. Carmen is currently developing its sporting venues, they’re planning to rubberize the track oval,” she said. “The construction of the rubberized oval is not now but they are heading in that direction.”

With the development in Carmen’s sports facilities and their experience of hosting the provincial meet, the municipality is open to possibility of hosting the Cviraa in the future.

The provincial meet will be joined by 44 municipalities, and to accommodate all the delegates, Carmen will be tapping neighboring municipalities Catmon and Compostela as co-host for the billeting areas.

“So far, there are no changes in provincial meet, the games are all patterned for the Cviraa and the Palarong Pambansa,” she said.

The winners in the provincial meet will be selected to represent Cebu Province in the Cviraa. RSC
