OF THE 505 villages in Pampanga, Barangay Sto. Niño in San Simon town has been chosen as the “Showcase Barangay” or model village for the second semester during the simultaneous barangay assembly held recently.

The barangay assembly, which coincided with the first 100 days of chairman Perlito “Dong” Dagdag Jr., held at the Sto. Niño Elementary School covered court, was attended by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Pampanga Provincial Director Myrvi Fabia.

According to Fabia, Barangay Sto. Niño was chosen as the province’s showcase barangay for good governance and efficient service it delivered from May to October under the leadership of Dagdag.

“We saw the transformation of the barangay, as well as the innovation that was implemented under the leadership of Kapitan Dong which we deemed qualified it to become the model barangay in the province,” she said.

Fabia also lauded the development made and accomplishments garnered by the barangay in the first 100 days of Dagdag as manifested in the audio-visual presentation played during the activity.

These include the renovation he made in the barangay hall, the disaster preparedness he implemented before the onslaught of recent typhoons, and leading his barangay to become a drug-cleared community as declared by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Meanwhile, Dagdag expressed his gratitude to the DILG for recognizing their barangay, as well as his efforts in delivering public service and providing progress for the benefit of his constituents.

He vowed to make the recognition a motivation as he strives to make Barangay Sto. Niño “a better, more developed and drug-cleared community.”

“I am very much thankful that the DILG recognized our barangay and made it the model for the province of Pampanga. I also would like to thank my fellow barangay officials and my constituents for being one with us in providing change and progress in our barangay,” he said.
